Hybrid Construction: Steel Body, Cast Iron Protection
Klemens Red isn’t a thin-gauge steel stove, and it isn’t a full cast iron stove either. The outer body is steel for faster heat transfer and a lighter overall unit; the combustion chamber is lined with thick SCh20 cast iron plates — side plates, back plates, grate, and air-channel components — that absorb thermal stress and protect the stove body under repeated high-temperature cycling. This combination targets the durability of cast iron in the areas most exposed to flame, without the full weight or cost of an all-cast-iron body.
Ceramic Side Panels — Decorative and Customizable
The red ceramic side panels are the stove’s most visible feature, but they also form part of the convection system: cool air enters through lower openings, travels through side channels, and exits as heated air through upper outlets, helping the room warm up faster than radiant heat alone.
The panels are also field-replaceable. Each is held by metal clips under the cast iron lid — remove four hex screws to lift the lid, unclip the panel, and fit a new one. A customer can match the stove’s tile to flooring or wall tile already in their home, or a distributor can specify an alternate color or finish for showroom differentiation or a private-label range.
Glass Door and Air-Wash System
The 220 × 310 × 4 mm glass door gives a clear flame view, kept clean by a glass air-wash system: preheated air is routed across the inner glass surface during normal operation to reduce soot buildup and cut down on manual cleaning.
Air Control and Burn Modes
Klemens Red has two independent air controls (mirrored on both sides for visual symmetry, so it looks like four handles):
- Lower air control — feeds air under the grate; used mainly during ignition to get the fire established quickly.
- Upper air control — feeds the glass air-wash system and manages overall burn intensity; closing it down shifts the stove into a slower, longer burn.
A set of narrow air slots stays open at all times regardless of control position — a safety feature that prevents flue gas from building up in the chamber even with both main controls fully closed.
Secondary Combustion and Heat Retention
When the firebox reaches operating temperature, preheated secondary air is introduced near the top of the chamber, burning off part of the unburned gases produced during combustion — visible as flame activity in the upper firebox. Internally, the smoke path runs through multiple offset plates (one steel, two galvanized steel, positioned so their openings don’t align) rather than exhausting directly, holding more heat inside the stove before gases reach the 120 mm flue outlet.
Top Plate, Ashpan, and Rear Heat Shield
The cast iron top plate can be used for light cooking or to heat water — useful in cabins and holiday homes where the stove serves heating and basic cooking at once. The ashpan (roughly 30 × 20 cm, 6 cm deep) holds the ash from several full burns before it needs emptying, and a removable handle is included so users don’t need to reach in by hand. A galvanized rear panel acts as a heat shield, allowing closer placement to a wall than an unshielded stove design.
Tested Heating Performance
In a real-world heating test, room temperature rose from roughly 11–12°C to around 18°C after about two hours of normal operation (continuous burning, air controls at a moderate setting). Recorded surface temperatures: top plate ~260°C, convector zone ~200°C, first half-meter of flue pipe ~188°C, wall directly behind the stove only 33°C (confirming the rear heat shield is doing its job), side convection panel ~60°C, legs ~45°C.
FAQ
What is the nominal power of Klemens Red? 8 kW, rated for a heating volume of 160 m³ / heating area of 80 m² at 75% efficiency.
Can the ceramic tile color be changed? Yes. The side panels are held with clips and can be replaced with a different color or finish — useful for matching a customer’s existing interior or for private-label color options.
What flue diameter does it use? 120 mm, smaller than the 150 mm used on many comparable stoves — this can reduce chimney material cost where local codes allow it. Always confirm installation requirements against local building and fire-safety codes.
Is it suitable for OEM or private-label supply? Yes. Klemens Red can serve as a base model for ceramic color configuration, appearance adjustment, and cast-iron component customization under OEM/private-label programs.
Can the top plate be used for cooking? It supports light cooking and water heating under normal operation, in addition to its primary heating function.
